At Mott MacDonald we seek to employ a workforce which reflects the diverse community at large. We not only comply with equal opportunities legislation and but we seek to promote fair, non-discriminatory employment procedures and practices, within the framework of local culture and laws. We are signatories for the Women in Science and Engineering (WISE) Ten Steps and are sponsors for their initiative ‘People Like Me’ which provides materials for schools to increase access to STEM subjects. We are also working with Business in the Community’s Gender and Race Equality campaigns and are global members with leading lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) charity Stonewall.
We are committed to equal opportunities for all in employment. No employee or job applicant will be discriminated against (either directly or indirectly) or suffer through victimisation or harassment on the basis of their age, disability, gender re-assignment, marriage or civil partnership, pregnancy or maternity, race, religion or belief, sex or sexual orientation. We also hosted our first Inclusion week in June which was kicked off by a Peer Learning Forum attended by sector peers.
We also have our employee led equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI) network ‘Advance’ which is sponsored by our Group Chairman and contributes to our EDI Strategy and Action plans for 2015 and 2016. This outlines our inclusive actions by key areas such as Leadership, Learning and Development, Supplier Diversity; the network also runs events throughout the year on a range of diversity topics linked to national and international events.
Outside of the office we seek to be a good corporate citizen, to provide local employment and to contribute to the economic well-being and social development of communities where we work. Employees are encouraged to participate in community, civic, professional and charitable activities with several local and global initiatives supported by staff on a regular basis.
